Changes in the relations between Moscow and Doha is not going to happen, but the message about the support of the Arab country of international terrorism will be carefully considered. This was stated by Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Viktor Ozerov, RIA Novosti reported on Monday, June 5.
He stressed that Russia builds its own foreign policy regardless of the decisions of other States.
Earlier on Monday, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen and the Maldives announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Qatar. The authorities of these countries accused Doha of supporting terrorism, including terrorist groups in Yemen, such as al-Qaeda and “Islamic state” (banned in Russia), as well as in destabilizing the internal situation in the Arab States.
Permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the international organizations in Vienna Vladimir Voronkov, commenting on the situation, explained that the incident will not affect the agreement of OPEC and independent producers to reduce oil production.
On 25 may, the members of OPEC and other oil producing countries, including Russia, decided to extend by 9 months the agreement to reduce production of raw materials. Saudi Arabia, Libya, UAE and Qatar are members of OPEC and are participants in the transaction.
