The United States Navy officer was given 6 years in prison for issuing military secrets to the girls

MOSCOW, 3 Jul — RIA Novosti. Lieutenant commander U.S. Navy Edward Lin sentenced to six years in prison for disclosing classified information, reports the associated Press.

Earlier in may, military, pleaded guilty to careless handling of classified information, transfer of information about the defense of the country and concealment of contacts abroad. Initially in April 2016 Lina was charged with spying, but later they were removed, writes Military.com.

The officer came under suspicion in late 2014. The FBI learned that Lin was not reported on the contacts with the Taiwanese military and a Chinese, one of whom he met at a massage parlor in Hawaii.

Lin also confessed that he passed confidential information to a US citizen, which lobbied in Washington interests of a political party of Taiwan.

In addition, he shared information with a woman named Katherine Wu, who disguised herself as an immigrant from Taiwan, but in reality was a secret agent of the FBI. The military court stated that to disclose the secrets to “impress” a friend.
