The current situation suits neither the Russian nor the American business, he said.

The President expressed the view that strong bilateral trade ties could be insurance against “political fluctuations”. “But to succeed, we need a serious effort from both sides, will require political will, a willingness to address issues of mutual practical interest”, – said Putin. He urged American businessmen to continue with the US President Donald trump dialogue to restore relations between the two countries.

Earlier during the SPIEF, Putin told foreign journalists that he “loves like a tramp and people,” and called the American leader a “direct and outspoken” person. Putin noted that while it was not “final opinions” about trump, because they have not yet met in person. He stressed that it is impossible “to be a friend of the person you don’t know.”
