Defense Ministry wants to upgrade the Ka-52 is based on the experience in Syria

ARSENYEV (Primorsky Krai), 3 Jun — RIA Novosti. Russian defense Ministry intends to upgrade the helicopters Ka-52 “alligator” taking into account the combat experience in Syria, said Deputy defense Minister Yuri Borisov.

“After the practical work in Syria we have certain needs, we negotiate with developers of major battle sites modernization with the aim of improving the efficiency of this machine” — Borisov said during a visit to an aircraft factory “Progress”.

According to him, the Ka-52 has proven itself in Syria. “Work was carried out with a new guided missile “Whirlwind” — very good results for efficiency. But perfection has no limits, so we have suggestions for improving sighting range. We discussed with the industry these issues, outlined solutions”, — noted Borisov.

Today’s Ka-52 (helicopter fire support for the army) are armed only with the Russian aerospace defence forces: according to the contract signed in 2011 the holding company “Helicopters of Russia” and “Oboronprom” videoconferencing in 2020 will get 140 of these machines. The congruity of such large-scale purchases of the “Alligator” has been confirmed by actual combat — as reported by the media, from April 2016, the Ka-52 were used against the terrorists in Syria.
