Turchinov urged to introduce a visa regime with Russia

KYIV, 1 Jul — RIA Novosti. Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov stated the need for a speedy introduction of a visa regime with Russia.

Earlier the faction of the coalition “people’s front” in the Ukrainian Parliament again called on deputies to consider the bill on the introduction of a visa regime with Russia. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow will proceed from the principle of reciprocity in visa matters with Ukraine.

“I believe that this question is not just overdue-overdue, it must be implemented as soon as possible. We will have open entry in Europe and in the East it is necessary to build the border,” Turchynov said during a prayer Breakfast on Thursday in Kiev, reports the website of TV channel “112. Ukraine”.

According to Turchynov, difficulty with uncontrolled Kiev territories of Donbass with the introduction of the visa regime should not arise. “I don’t see it have any impact on the occupied territories,” said Secretary of the NSDC.

In October 2016 the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada proposed to return to consideration of issue on introduction of a visa regime with Russia. The Deputy head of the largest parliamentary faction “Block of Petro Poroshenko” Alexey Goncharenko said that the faction will not vote for the resolution on recommendations to the Cabinet to cancel the visa-free regime with Russia.

According to him, the Ukrainian foreign Ministry believes that the abolition of a visa — free regime with Russia is the wrong move. In addition, in Russia there is a large number of Ukrainians who work there, and the introduction of a visa regime will make it impossible.

Earlier, Russian Deputy foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said that Russia does not seek to dissociate itself from Ukraine, but will react accordingly in the case of the introduction of Kiev visas.

MP from the faction “the Opposition bloc” Vadim Novinsky stated that the introduction of visas can leave without a job, 2.5 million Ukrainians, who earn money in Russia, and “it threatens to decline in foreign exchange earnings in Ukraine”.
