U.S. Senator John McCain said that Russia is a greater threat than the terrorists of the “Islamic state” (IG, an organization banned in Russia).
“I think that Russia is the main threat. More important than the IG (banned in Russia). I think that IG (banned in Russia) can do terrible things. But the Russians tried to destroy the Foundation of democracy, to change the outcome of elections in America,” McCain said in a broadcast by Australian TV channel ABC.
However, McCain acknowledged that there is no evidence of Moscow’s interference in the presidential elections in the United States or in France, but he is confident that “the Russians have tried and continue to try to influence elections.”
He also noted that he hoped the increasing pressure on Moscow and the introduction of new sanctions.
Russia has repeatedly denied accusations of alleged interference in the Affairs of other States, noting full of unsubstantiated statements like that.
