Trump has named Russia among the main threats to NATO
The Alliance should focus on terrorism and migration, as well as on the threats from Russia, said trump, speaking at the summit in Brussels.
WASHINGTON, may 25 — RIA Novosti, Alexei Bogdanovsky. The US President Donald trump called terrorism, migration and the “threat from Russia” among the threats to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
“NATO of the future should focus on terrorism and migration, as well as on the threats from Russia and from the East and South,” said trump, speaking in Brussels.
The speech of the President of the United States was broadcast by American television.
On Thursday in Brussels runs a short NATO summit, at which in the Belgian capital there has arrived the President of the United States Donald trump. On the agenda two main points: the fight against terrorism and distribution of financial burdens between members of the Alliance.
On the eve of the summit, the Secretary-General of the organization Jens Stoltenberg announced that the ambassadors of member States of the Alliance approved the NATO accession to the international coalition led by the US, leading the fight against ISIS*. The final decision on this matter should be taken at this summit.
Trump also intends to discuss with partners in the NATO funding organization. In 2014, the Alliance members have agreed to spend on premiums, not less than two per cent of its GDP. However, of the 28 States that requirement is met only USA, UK, Poland, Greece and Estonia. Most of all for the needs of NATO spending Washington — 3,61%.
