High representative of the European Union for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini said that Russia and the United States will cover the expenses for the reconstruction of Syria. It is reported by CNBC.
Speaking at the world economic forum on the Middle East and North Africa, Mogherini acknowledged the vital nature of achieving agreement on Syria between Russia and the United States.
However, she stressed, Russia is weak economically: “If you look at the state of the Russian economy today, it is difficult to call it a superpower.” “Russia is investing a lot, when it comes to defense and military actions, but when it comes to economic power – forget about it.”
Current trends in Washington, according to Mogherini, also not allow to hope for American help in rebuilding Syria.
Therefore, she said, expenses have to be borne by the neighbors and Europe.
