Moscow needs to understand foreign policy that going to Paris, given the role of France in the international arena. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Andrei Klimov told “Tape.ru”. So the Senator commented on the forthcoming meeting between the presidents of Russia and France Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron.
According to Klimova, during the election campaign macron did not name specific items on its political agenda on domestic and foreign policy. “We do not really understand what he really meant. For many it is a mystery,” he explained, adding that the forthcoming communication of the leaders of the two countries is a good opportunity for dialogue.
The politician also reminded that France is part of the “Norman Quartet” and acts as the guarantor of observance of the Minsk agreements, “the only possible solution to the conflict” in the Donbass. “Earlier in this format, Putin held talks with [françois] Hollande. And, of course, because the Minsk agreements are the only possible settlement of the conflict near our borders, we are interested to know the position of Mr Macron”, — said Klimov.
Earlier on Monday, may 22, the press service of the Kremlin confirmed that Russian President will meet with Him on may 29. The heads of state will discuss prospects of development of bilateral relations.
