Made ink sketch was discovered in the UK in the town Weybridge (Surrey), in the house where Lennon lived in the years 1964-1968 with his first wife Cynthia. The creation date of the sketch is not specified.
According to the representative of the auction house, “an initial assessment of the figure — from $40 thousand to $60 thousand, but there is every indication that it will be sold for a much more substantial sum”.
“The interest in this sketch has already shown well-known collectors and museums,” he said.
On the website Julien’s Auctions in materials for the upcoming auction indicates that in 1967, Lennon called the album “the Orchestra of club of lonely hearts Sergeant pepper’s” one of the most important in the work of The Beatles.
“We’ve worked hard and I think we succeeded in achieving what he wanted,” said Lennon.
Expert on the Beatles Perry Cox believes that the sketch is “one of the most important evidence of how the work progressed at an early stage on the album, which many consider the most important pop – rock album of all time”.
As noted previously, the Agency AP, still no indication that Lennon participated in the work on the cover in the first stage.
