Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the families of cosmonaut Viktor Gorbatko, who died in Moscow. The telegram posted on the Kremlin website.
“Died Viktor Gorbatko, twice hero of the Soviet Union, courageous, strong spirit of a man utterly devoted to his duty and Fatherland. Victor has made a truly unique contribution to the development of Astronautics, the solution of the critical tasks of government has consistently demonstrated strength of character and professionalism of the highest class”, – stated in the message.
Viktor Gorbatko has died in Moscow at the age of 82 years.
His first space flight Gorbatko made in October 1969 on Board the spaceship “Soyuz-7”. The second in February 1977 on a space ship “Soyuz-24” and orbital station “Salyut-5”. His third flight took place in July 1980 on the spacecraft “Soyuz-36”, “Soyuz-37” and orbital station “Salyut-6”.
