The Central election Commission develops proposals for changes in the electoral legislation in terms of early voting. This was reported by the CEC head, Ella Pamfilova, reports TASS on Wednesday, March 29.
“We are now preparing proposals on streamlining, optimizing and, perhaps, the abolition of early voting,” — said Pamfilova. She stressed that its cancellation is possible only in the case that the Commission would be able to offer an adequate replacement.
According to the head of the Central election Commission, criticism is a system of early voting, which operates at the regional and municipal elections (elections at the Federal level it is conducted only in remote areas — approx. “Of the tape.ru”). It allows you to vote to citizens who on election day, for example, are working or leaving the country.
“Experience shows that early voting in the regions is one of the biggest potential opportunities for a different kind of fraud,” — said Pamfilova.
On 16 March, the head of the CEC reported that Russia may appear universal election commissions for citizens, who did not apply in advance to vote at the place of stay. Such proposals are discussed on the background of the possibility of abolishing absentee ballots, she explained.
In the beginning of the month in the state Duma was introduced a bill providing for the abolition of absentee ballots at the elections of the President of Russia in 2018.
