Iran made to provide Russia with military bases to fight terrorists

Russia may use “temporary basis” bases on the territory of Iran, in the interests of fighting with terrorists in Syria.

This statement was made by Minister of foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif, reports Reuters.

Zarif said that regional security issues, including Syria, will be discussed on Tuesday, March 28, in the Kremlin, where he will meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Russia on a regular basis from 2015, the Iranian uses the base as a transit airfields during the transfer of aircraft and personnel to Syria and back.

In August 2016, the Russian Tu-22M3 and su-34 first flew with Iranian 3rd tactical airbase near Hamadan and attacked the militants in Syria.

However, in the future between Moscow and Tehran caused a diplomatic misunderstanding, which resulted in Iran’s refusal from the further provision of airfields for carrying out strikes in Syria. Iranian defense Minister Hossein Dehgan said that Russia announced about the use of the airfield near Hamadan without coordination with the Iranian side.

“Disclosure of this information is seen as disrespect and a desire to show off,” explained the Minister, adding that Moscow was “under no circumstances” will not receive in Iran the base for permanent use.
