In India a bus fell into a river, killing ten people

NEW DELHI, 27 Mar — RIA Novosti. At least 10 people were killed and 25 injured in a traffic accident with a bus in the Indian state of Manipur, reported PTI citing police.

The incident occurred at about 03.30 Monday (01.30 GMT) in Senapati district on route Imphal-Dimapur. The bus went off the road in the direction of proceeding along the river, in 65 kilometers from Imphal.

The cause of the accident is not yet established. The injured were hospitalized in nearby hospitals. According to police, the number of victims may grow, as many of the injured are in critical condition.

Due to congestion, poor road conditions and careless driving in India often occur in serious accidents. According to official statistics, every day as a result of road accidents killed 400 people a year are victims of road accidents are almost 150 thousand people. Thus, according to the world health organization, the annual death rate on Indian roads in recent years, more than 200 thousand people.
