Cavusoglu: Turkey is ready to take the Russians without passports

Turkish foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stressed that in this case the Russians will be able to come into the country with only domestic identity documents.

ANKARA, March 27. /Offset. TASS Kirill Zharov/. Turkey intends to begin substantive discussions with the Russian transition to the mutual visits of citizens in internal identity cards.

As informs on Monday TV channel NTV, reported the Turkish foreign Minister mevlüt çavuşoğlu at the meeting with the living in Antalya citizens of Russia.

“Even before the sad events (shot down Turkish air force Russian su-24 November 2015 — approx. TASS), was held serious negotiations on this subject. Now, when our relationship was normalized, we can continue these negotiations,” he said.

Cavusoglu said that in a short time “will begin the discussion with the adoption in Turkey of Russians arriving without passports, only with internal identity”. The Minister also added that “airports are installing the device for verification of such documents.”

After the incident with the downed su-24 Russia abolished the visa-free regime with Turkey in the context of the response

At the meeting of the Russian-Turkish cooperation Council of the highest level in Moscow on 10 March, the parties agreed to a partial liberalization of the visa regime first for representatives of business circles. Work on this issue continues.

Turkey is trying to go on the most simplistic modes of crossing the border with neighbouring countries. In particular, the opportunity to travel to Turkey for internal passports and identities of citizens of Georgia, and in mid-March an agreement signed between Ankara and Kiev.
