The number of suicides in Russia in 2016 has grown by almost 60%

“From 2011 to 2015, the number of suicides in the country fell steadily by 10% per year. But in 2016 saw an increase of 57%. We have dramatically rolled back for five years. One of the main reasons for this is the explosive spread of “groups of death” in social networks,” said Kuznetsova during a conference call “On the prevention of suicide among minors” on Monday.
She noted that in the field of dealing with the situation there are many problems.
“According to our data in the 2016 academic year 47% of schools in the Russian Federation had a staff of psychologists,” said Kuznetsova, noting that now this problem is solved.
Kuznetsov stressed that to solve problems it is necessary to improve the legal framework improve the methodology and to increase the availability of professional assistance.
