Florida launched a Delta IV rocket with a communication satellite for the U.S. armed forces

WASHINGTON, March 19 — RIA Novosti. The Delta IV rocket was launched in Florida with a communications satellite WGS-9 for U.S. forces and allies, the United Launch Alliance (ULA), which owns the rocket, is a live broadcast of the launch.

The launch vehicle was given in 3.18 GMT from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral (Florida).

Satellite WGS-9, developed by Boeing, is designed to transmit signals between warships, submarines, aircraft, ground forces, and also to provide video conferencing in a secure way and getting weather reports.

Access to a new companion in addition to USA will be provided for the armed forces of Australia, Canada, Denmark, New Zealand and Luxembourg.

The WGS constellation of satellites replaced the DSCS satellite system to ensure communication of the U.S. armed forces and their partners.
