In Russia may appear universal election Commission, for citizens who did not apply in advance to vote at the place of stay. On Thursday, March 16, Chairman of the Central election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, reports TASS.
According to her, against the possibility of abolishing absentee ballots, the CEC is developing a system that will allow voters to vote not in the place of registration. The options discussed provide that the citizen will proactively address the CEC with a request to include it in the appropriate lists.
“We anticipate that, despite a broad information campaign, it is still a fairly large group of people leave everything for last. Many appear time travel, different situations, when were not where expected,” — said Pamfilova. For this category of people developed a universal system of election commissions, it is expected that they will be established on the basis of the territorial commissions.
The CEC head stressed that this requires the introduction of a “rigid system of identification” in order to avoid violations.
Earlier Thursday, the head of the CEC said that the Russian electoral system is in need of more modern technical equipment.
3 March in the state Duma was introduced a bill providing for the abolition of absentee ballots at the elections of the President of Russia in 2018. One of the authors of the legislative initiative, Senator Andrey Klishas noted that among the Russians the impression that absentee ballots are the mechanism of falsification.
