Crimean autonomy within Ukraine was waiting for status decline and the erosion of the powers, said the head of the Public chamber of the Crimea, ex-Vice-speaker of the Parliament of the Republic Grigory Ioffe.
According to him, the Crimea was the only autonomy within a unitary state of Ukraine.
“We felt the press of the Ukrainian state, which through the teeth allow us the status to withstand. Before the coup, Yanukovych (then the President of Ukraine – ed.) decided to change the Constitution, which was in a separate Chapter: “the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” said Joffe, the radio station “Sputnik”in Crimea.
According to him, the constituent Assembly, which developed a new draft of the main document of the country, did not include the Crimean.
“According to the document, which has already appeared, we have seen that the new Constitution will be diluted the value of Crimea as an autonomy, which was expected by the downgrading and cutting of powers. In addition, it was planned to strengthen the control of the Republic from Kiev”, — said Joffe.
The head of the OP stressed that the Ukrainian authorities have reacted to the Crimean autonomy and the Constitution as operetta education.
Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russian Federation. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014.
