Ildar Dading detained on a picket in Moscow

Opposition activist Ildar Dading detained during a picket near the building of the Ministry of justice of Russia. Police took a Dading after he refused to show them the documents, citing the provisions of the Constitution, the correspondent bi-Bi-si from a place of events.

Dading and human rights activist Lev Ponomarev, one after another, carried out single picket with the requirement of resignation of the head of the Federal penitentiary service in the Republic of Karelia Alexander Terekhov.

Dading was first convicted on charges of violating the rules of holding mass events. In 2015, he was sentenced to three years imprisonment. In February of this year, Russia’s Supreme court overturned the verdict, and Dading were released.

Shortly before the detention of the opposition, the Supreme court published the reasoning part of its decision to vacate the verdict and Dadina. It says that at the time of the Dading participation at the meeting on 5 December 2014, it has not been brought to administrative responsibility for violation of the rules of the meeting.

According to the court, this means that for places on oppozicioneri criminal case, provided for repeated violation of the article, there was no reason.

“Because of the actions of the convicted, Dading is no offence, the verdict and the appeal decision are subject to cancellation with the termination of the proceedings in the criminal case,” the court decided.
