WP found out about the transfer to Syria of additional forces United States marine corps
To support the assault of the Syrian Raqqa the US deployed an extra contingent of Marines, learned the newspaper the Washington Post. The Pentagon declined to comment, citing its secrecy.
US transferred to Syria for more Marines to participate in the liberation of the city of Raqqa, which is considered the “capital” of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia). This is with reference to sources in the defense Ministry, the U.S. newspaper the Washington Post.
Earlier, the US said that in Syria there are about 500 American commandos who engaged in training and advising units fighting against terrorists.
As told on condition of anonymity, the sources, in the new units of the US marine corps in Syria is an artillery battery of M777 howitzer caliber 155 mm, which should provide fire support to the troops during the assault on Raqqa. Furthermore, the additional Marines will provide security of US troops and will be part of logistic scheme of supply expeditionary forces.
The Pentagon said that the US for security reasons will not comment on the deployment of their troops in Syria, RIA Novosti reported.
