Medvedev called blackmail linking the Eurasian integration, bilateral issues

BISHKEK, 7 Mar. /TASS/. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev compared with blackmail attempts to make the integration within the Eurasian economic community held hostage to bilateral disagreements.

“The cases, when the problems of bilateral relations and such problems were, are and will be, nothing in them is dramatic not because of the intensity of cooperation can be transferred to the multilateral platform of the Union (EEU), he said at the session of the Eurasian intergovernmental Council. – Execution of the agreements we reached and he integration process as a whole become hostage to specifically understand the national interests. In fact, in relation to other members of the Union who are not involved in the dispute, a completely unacceptable situation, this situation is akin to blackmail: either you affect the decision of the other party to the dispute, or we do not sign it.”

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes that none of the participants of the Eurasian economic Union should not allow exchanges for the total score. “None of the parties should not in General – in any case, must strive for this – to try to make the exchange at the common expense,” he said.

The Prime Minister stressed that, if some participating countries of the Eurasian economic Union at the time acceded to, it would receive gas at much higher prices.

The Prime Minister believes that the forum of the Eurasian economic Union “Anticounterfeiting” we need to officially make the annual status. “In terms of open borders acute is the problem of counterfeit goods. To solve it, established the international forum “Anticounterfeit”, – he said. – This platform helps to establish networking contacts and share experiences. It is important that work is not interrupted, we need to formalize annual forum status”.

The Prime Minister also noted the relevance of a mechanism of traceability of products and a pilot project for their labeling. He assured that in the near future Russia will complete the procedure of ratification of the agreement on the extension of this project, and expressed the hope that partners in the Union, this process will happen simultaneously.

Medvedev stated that exceptions and limitations in trade between the countries hinder the functioning of the common economic space. He noted that work to identify such restrictions in recent times has accelerated, including by bringing to her business. “You need to persevere in this work to select the most burdensome to business obstacles and resolve them, – said the head of the Cabinet. – Have to do it in the near future”.

Russia will be glad to hold the next meeting of the Eurasian intergovernmental Council in Kazan. “I would be glad to welcome the members (of the Eurasian intergovernmental) Council at the regular meeting scheduled to be held in Kazan,” – said the Russian Prime Minister.

He also wished Kyrgyzstan’s successful chairmanship of the Council in 2017.
