The Federation Council members Andrei Klishas and Anatoly Shirokov proposed to clarify the possibility of moving the date of presidential elections in Russia. Under current law, elections of the head of state appoints the Federation Council not earlier than 100 days and no later than 90 days before election day. According to the parliamentarians, in such cases, elections need to move a week later, and not before. Corresponding amendments they propose to amend the law governing the conduct of elections of the head of state.
The next presidential elections would be held in Russia in 2018.
