The senators proposed to clarify the date range of the presidential election

The Federation Council members Andrei Klishas and Anatoly Shirokov proposed to clarify the possibility of moving the date of presidential elections in Russia. This provision is contained in the set of amendments to the electoral law, made by them to the state Duma on 3 March. The document is registered in the database of draft laws the lower house of Parliament on Friday, 3 March.

Under current law, elections of the head of state appoints the Federation Council not earlier than 100 days and no later than 90 days before election day. The will must be held on the second Sunday of March. However, as noted by the senators, the calendar of the campaign might impact on March 8. So, in 2012, due to the holidays, the vote had to be on the first Sunday.

According to the parliamentarians, in such cases, elections need to move a week later, and not before. Corresponding amendments they propose to amend the law governing the conduct of elections of the head of state.

The next presidential elections would be held in Russia in 2018. About his intention to run for the post of the head of state said, in particular, the LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, founder of the Fund of struggle against corruption Alexei Navalny, sentenced to five years probation to the case of “Kirovles” and also in custody in the case of major fraud, the businessman Sergey Polonsky.
