The HRC called a senseless idea to introduce the concept of “registered as foreign agents” for the media
To equate the Russian mass media receiving financing from abroad, to foreign agents — is meaningless. This was stated by the head of the Council on human rights (HRC) under the Russian President Mikhail Fedotov, reports “RIA Novosti”.
“I believe that this initiative is pointless because we already have a law that gives Roskomnadzor the right to collect information about all Russian media funded from abroad,” — said Fedotov.
According to him, “just go to the website of Roskomnadzor” to see that “this registry there are a lot of Russian media”, including “state”. He added that the legislation “is already there, and the comparatively long”. Fedotov stressed that “it is no”.
Wednesday, June 28, the senators stated that all media outlets in Russia and are campaigning for a particular candidate in the elections, can be verified by the DOJ as the registered as a foreign agent and blocked.
