The story of the virus-the extortioner Petya, attacking various companies around the world June 27, is “information catastrophe” because of her comments in the media, says Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation on development of the Internet Herman Klimenko. He said this on June 28, the radio station “Vesti FM”.
“I have not seen a single “the fallen” site, I saw the hospital where the operation would be disabled equipment. There is background information, there is a known issue: viruses encoders. But if you close your eyes and do not listen to the media — nothing happens. This is an information disaster,” he said.
Klymenko added that the developers of the virus have collected a small amount of money. “See how much money collects the whole story: too little”, — he noted.
According to the adviser of the President, the existence of viruses possible thanks to the availability of anonymous payment systems. “Thanks to an anonymous means of payment viruses and live,” he concluded.
On Tuesday, June 27, it became known about the attack a new modified virus that blocks access to data and demands money for unlocking. Experts of the company Group-IB, specializing in computer security and cyber defence, and described the reason for the large-scale attacks on Russian and Ukrainian companies virus-cryptographer Petya, which prevents your system from booting, locks computers and demands a ransom of $ 300 in bitcoins.
