Golikova: the number of people living below the poverty line in Russia in early 2017 fell by almost 7%
VLADIVOSTOK, June 25. /TASS/. The number of people living below the poverty line in Russia, in the first quarter of this year amounted to 22 million — 1.4 million less than first quarter of 2016.
This was announced on 25 June, the head of the accounts chamber Tatyana Golikova, the TV channel “Russia 1”.
“The most sensitive indicator, which yet positive changes that we would like to see is the level of living of the population. Unfortunately, the number of citizens who are below the poverty line, yet high. The first quarter is 22 million people,” she said.
Golikova noted that in 2017 this figure has decreased in comparison with the first quarter of 2016. “This is less than in the first quarter of last year, 1.4 million But this is a very high figure,” she concluded.
