Pamfilova: Navalny could not participate in elections because of a conviction

The CEC head stressed that “this corresponds to our Russian law.”

MOSCOW, June 14. /TASS/. Opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who has announced his intention to run for President of Russia, cannot be registered as a candidate because of a conviction.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Central election Commission of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, the TV channel “Rain”.

“I understand, and he understands that he has no chance to be registered for the elections because of his criminal record. This is the law, this corresponds to our Russian laws,” she said.
