According to Poroshenko, the onset of action bezveza symbolizes the final break “with the Russian Empire and the Ukrainian democratic world — authoritarian “Russian world””. The President added that Ukrainians had achieved “freedom, which is not yet known”.

June 10, Poroshenko launched a countdown to the abolition of the visa regime.
A proposal to grant Ukraine visa-free regime with the EU was supported by the European Parliament in April. The document was also signed by the President of the European Parliament and a representative of the presidency of the European Union (Malta). The decision was published on 22 may.
After commencement of the agreement, citizens of Ukraine can stay in the Schengen area not exceeding 90 days within half a year. To work and study at the new EU rules do not apply.
