The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson. On Saturday, June 10, reported on the official website of the Russian foreign Ministry.
“On June 10 at American initiative was held a telephone conversation of Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson. The interlocutors exchanged views on the situation in Syria and confirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in order to end the conflict in that country. Sergey Lavrov expressed his categorical opposition to the U.S. strikes on Pro-government forces urged to take concrete measures to prevent such incidents in future”, — stated in the message.
It is noted that the foreign Ministers agreed to use the existing channels to promote the Syrian settlement, including with the use of Astana and Geneva processes.
Lavrov and Tillerson also agreed to continue their contacts on other international issues, including conflicts in the middle East and North Africa, and the Ukrainian crisis, the statement said.
In addition, the foreign Ministers discussed the implications of breaking a number of Arab States have diplomatic relations with Qatar. Both stressed the need to resolve differences through negotiations and expressed readiness to assist in these efforts.
Lavrov and Tillerson discussed, and current issues in Russian-American relations, including a schedule of upcoming bilateral contacts.
