The Prosecutor’s office assessed the situation with corruption in Russia

The official representative of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Alexander Kurennoy said that corruption in Russia now is not catastrophic.

“Call a catastrophic situation (corruption in Russia) is impossible. The amount of damage from corruption from year to year is growing, but the number of corruption crimes decreased,” said Kurennoy, the radio station “Moscow speaking”.

According to him, the number of corruption crimes in Russia in recent years has decreased from 50 per thousand in 2012 to 33 million in 2016. The damages from these crimes, estimated to prosecutors, amounted to 2016 78 billion rubles, reminded the Colonel.

Increasing the size of the damage from corruption the representative of the office explained that prosecutors have become more effective in identifying these amounts due to the emergence of new methodologies and new tools.
