Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol decided to appoint elections of the Governor on September 10. The decision was taken on Tuesday, June 6, a majority of deputies ‘ votes, reports “Kriminform”.
“I ask to appoint elections of the Governor of Sevastopol on 10 September 2017,” said Deputy Chairman of the Sevastopol Legislative Assembly Alexander Kulagin. It is noted that the deputies approved the document without discussion and sent to the Sevastopol city election Commission for preparation and conduct of elections of the Governor.
On may 16 it was reported that about 65 percent of residents of Sevastopol have been pinning hopes for a better life with Dmitri Ovsyannikov, acting Governor. According to the research results of the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM), 57 percent would vote for him if elections of the mayor were held next Sunday.
In March it became known that Ovsyannikov submitted documents to the political Council of the party “United Russia” to participate in the primaries before the election of the mayor. “In General, my campaign will be built on the real work of the government of Sevastopol”, — said Ovsyannikov.
Their support for the candidacy of acting Governor in the elections scheduled for September 2017, said the Deputy of legislative Assembly Alexey Chaly.
Ovsyannikov was appointed acting Governor of Sevastopol in late July after his predecessor, Sergei Menyailo became the presidential envoy in the Siberian Federal district.
