Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President XI Jinping will hold a meeting on the sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) in Astana. This was announced by the assistant to the President Yuri Ushakov on Wednesday, June 7, the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.
He noted that the leaders on the first day of the forum will briefly discuss two-way cooperation in the framework of the organization, as well as topics that “affect the situation on the Korean Peninsula.”
“Leaders can discuss other issues, but in principle, they all planned to move on Moscow summit,” Ushakov said, Recalling that XI Jinping will visit the Russian capital in early July.
In addition, Vladimir Putin within the SCO summit will meet with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif. The forum, which will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan on June 8-9, Pakistan will be admitted to the ranks of the States members of the organization, said Russian presidential aide. The agenda of the meeting — the interaction in the SCO framework, in particular the cooperation in the economic sphere.
At the SCO summit it is planned to sign 11 documents, including the Declaration on joint fight against terrorism. Participants of the forum, in addition to member States, observers and partners of the organization will be the heads of several international organizations, including the UN and the CSTO.
The chairmanship of the organization in 2018 will pass from Kazakhstan to China.
