WASHINGTON, June 3. /Offset. TASS Anton Cranks/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had proposed to the former American leader bill Clinton to consider the possibility of Russia joining NATO.
“I remember one of our last meetings with President Clinton, even when Clinton was President. He came to Moscow, and I in the discussion said, “Well, maybe to see that Russia can join NATO”. Clinton replied: “Well, well, I’m not against it,” Putin said in an interview with the American Director Oliver stone for his new project – a series of conversations with the Russian leader.
The Russian President stressed that in this moment “the entire American delegation was very nervous”. On the proposal of stone’s to apply Putin laughed.
The President also called NATO foreign policy tool for the United States, where there are no allies, there are only their vassals. “Today is a foreign policy tool the US has no allies, it only has vassals. When a country becomes a member of NATO, it is already very difficult to resist the pressure from such a large country, the leader of NATO, as the United States. And there could easily occur anything you like – and the missile defense system, and the new base, and, if necessary, and a new strike complexes”, – said Putin in an interview with U.S. Director Oliver stone for his new project – a series of conversations with the Russian leader.
