A new book, according to critics, can be described as a very personal story, and it contains the version of a fabulous narrative of a collection of myths and legends of middle-earth “the Silmarillion”, which was posthumously published by the writer’s son Christopher in the late 1970s.
The new book also edited a 92-year-old Christopher, and illustrated edition of Alan Lee, received at the time the award “Oscar” for his work on the trilogy of Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the rings” of the work of Tolkien. The son has carefully preserved the style and form written by the father.
According to renowned scholar John Garth, the creation of the texts was a kind of exorcism for John Tolkien, because of the horrors witnessed it was during the First world war. “When Tolkien returned from the trenches, with fever, the winter of 1916-1917 he spent trying to recover — Garth quotes Bi-bi-si. He lost his two closest friends on the Somme, and you can imagine how he was defeated.”
Turning to the source of inspiration in the work of the writer, literary critic recalls the bright event in his life. “While walking in the forests of Eastern Yorkshire Tolkien saw his wife Edith dancing in a clearing, overgrown with white flowers, and this was a key stage history about Berane and luthien, reminded Garth. — Tolkien felt then that joy and delight which may have not experienced anymore”. Not by chance the names Beren and luthien carved on the tombstone of Tolkien and his wife Edith in the cemetery at Oxford.
