Rogozin: the reduction in the cosmonaut associated with the renewal of the composition
The average age in the squad of 53 years, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister.
MOSCOW, April 27. /TASS/. Reduction in the cosmonaut related to the renewal of its composition, are planned, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
“With the rejuvenation (related to the changes in the cosmonaut), the average age in the squad of 53. That is too old astronauts. This year Roscosmos announced a new set. Therefore, there is a planned update,” — said Rogozin.
“I don’t understand why such a reaction is cautious. This is a routine update,” he said.
According to Rogozin, this will also be linked with the prospects of manned cosmonautics after 2024.
“It must be something else, that is clear. Because the international space station will operate until 2024. If you want to create a national space station, or other manned space flight? It’s all linked in one way and with a new system of training astronauts, as well as the use of robotic tools, which could replace astronauts on particularly difficult areas,” — said Rogozin.
On 24 April the Interdepartmental Commission of the state Corporation “Rosatom” decided to expel him from the cosmonaut Sergey Volkov, Alexander Samokutyaev and Sergei Revin, reported the press service of the cosmonaut training Center. Previously, the TASS source in the space industry reported that wolves had written a resignation at own will, the other two astronauts were barred from flying for medical reasons.
