MOSCOW, 25 APR — RIA Novosti. Grouping “the Battalion of Imam Shamil” has claimed responsibility for the attack in the subway of St. Petersburg, reports Reuters with reference to the organization SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors online activity by radical groups.

According to the Agency, the suicide Akbarjon Jalilov acted on the orders of the leader of the terrorist group al-Qaeda* Ayman al-Zawahiri, is associated with “the Battalion of Imam Shamil”.
The explosion in the train on the stretch between the stations “Sennaya Ploschad” and “Tekhnologichesky Institut — 2” occurred on the afternoon of 3 April. Killing 16 people, including the Jalilova. Another bomb was found at the station “Ploschad Vosstaniya”, failed to disarm.
