The UN Secretariat should begin the development of an international strategy against fabricated news and misinformation that the degree of damage comparable to a viral epidemic. This was stated by the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, speaking at the 39th session of the Committee on information General Assembly of the world organization. The diplomat stated that “mass-produced” fake news was the result of a sharp drop in professional standards in media outlets, due to undue legal restrictions.
