Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, March 27, met with Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The talks between Putin and Vucic were in Moscow. During the meeting the Russian President expressed hope that relations between Russia and Serbia will continue to develop positively “in the spirit of friendship, no matter how evolved the political situation”.
Putin said that the joint efforts of Moscow and Belgrade “cannot change the situation in trade-economic sphere the better”, mainly due to the growth of exports from Serbia to Russia. “Here are the leaders: the growth of supplies of agricultural products from Serbia is somewhere around 40 percent,” – said the head of state.
Vucic, in turn, thanked Putin’s support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia. The Serbian Prime Minister said that he hoped for further growth of trade turnover between the two countries. He recalled that Serbia remains committed to national independence and military neutrality.
Previously, vučić stated that “Serbia will not impose sanctions against Russia, remaining the last country in Europe”. The main topics of the talks between Putin and Vucic was supposed to be a bilateral economic partnership and industrial cooperation in machine building and military-technical cooperation. The Serbian Prime Minister also planned to discuss ways to enhance cooperation of Serbia with the Eurasian economic Union.
