Navalny fined for organizing an inconsistent rally

The Tver court of Moscow has recognized opposition leader Alexei Navalny guilty of organizing an inconsistent rally in the capital and fined it on 20 thousand roubles. About it reports TASS.

Navalny said at a meeting that they organized an anti-corruption action is lawful and consistent with the decision of the constitutional court. “We have asked the Moscow government for approval of the action. According to the law, us in three days was supposed to match it or offer an alternative venue, but this was not done, therefore, according to the decision of the constitutional court, we had the right to carry out the action in the place which had been requested initially,” he said.

In the Kremlin, commenting on the rallies in Moscow and other cities of Russia, expressed regret at the fact that the participants had not used government-proposed alternative sites. “We can’t show the same respect for those who deliberately leads people astray, and those who consciously did yesterday and the day before, provoking illegal actions”, — said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

Navalny was detained on 26 March in Central Moscow, a few minutes later after he appeared at an unsanctioned rally against corruption. According to official information, the event was attended by eight thousand people, more than 500 were arrested. One of the policemen during the action, received a traumatic brain injury.

Organizers held a parade on Tverskaya street in spite of the refusal to reconcile. The government in turn offered a platform in Sokolniki and Marino.

Similar events took place on March 26 and in dozens of other cities across the country. In some of these actions were agreed. The unauthorized rallies in the regions were detained several hundred participants.
