The Russian authorities do not intend to consider the requirements of the European Union regarding the detained participants of unauthorized demonstrations, said press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov on Monday 27 March. His words to the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.

“In this case we cannot take this appeal into consideration,” said Sands, answering the question of how the Kremlin perceived the relations of the EU with a request to release the demonstrators.

The official representative of the Kremlin said that Moscow’s commitment to the Council of Europe and OSCE, implementation of which the EU insists, are not the basis for the violation of Russian legislation.

Earlier Monday, the EU urged Moscow to release the detained participants of protest actions, which took place on 26 March in several Russian cities. The EU believes that the detention of the protesters violate the rights of citizens to freedom of expression. In the United States considered the detention of protesters an “affront to democratic values”.
