The Latvian side has refused to visit military facilities in Russia which have caused fears of Riga, said the Ministry of defence of the Russian Federation. Speech, in particular, about the army aviation brigade in Ostrov, and Pskov airborne division.
As explained in the defense Ministry of the Russian Federation, the Russian defense Ministry invited the Latvian side to visit the above-mentioned objects, adhering to a policy of openness.
“However, NATO solidarity has not allowed the Latvian side to send its representatives to verify the absence of any real threats from the Russian defense Ministry in the region”, – stated in the defense Ministry.
In addition, the Russian defense Ministry responded to the words of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who said earlier that the Alliance was invited in 2016 to their doctrines of military observers from Russia “at least ten times”.
“In 2016, in accordance with the requirements of the Vienna document 2011, the Russian side has received only one invitation to the exercise of NATO States in Poland called “Anaconda-16″. Outside the prompt area of the exercises were inspected by the Russian inspection team,” said the defense Ministry.
“This is in violation of the provisions of the Vienna document accompanying the inspection team from Poland refused to provide required under the Vienna document of information and answers to questions”, – stressed in the defense Ministry.
At the same time, he added, the Russian defense Ministry, the defense Ministry in 2016 invited NATO representatives at least 30 times for various events, including at the V Moscow conference on international security, international Military games and the 2016 forum “Army – 2016”.
