Sokolov: Russia and Egypt have agreed on the final version of the Protocol on aviation security

It remains to agree on the date and place of signing the document, said the Minister of transport of Russia.

MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. Russia and Egypt generally agreed on the final version of the Protocol on aviation security, which will allow the two countries to resume flights, it remains only to agree on the date and place of signing the document, told journalists the Minister of transport of Russia Maxim Sokolov.

“It (the Egyptian side — approx. TASS) just don’t let a date, a place and time for the signing of this agreement, and all issues are agreed,” — said the Minister, responding to a question.

In February the Russian government approved the Protocol on aviation security between Moscow and Cairo, prepared by the Ministry of transport. Russian and Egyptian airlines can operate flights between the two countries only provided the conclusion of the agreement on aviation security with a special Russian legal entities, follows from the document.

As noted in the document, a Russian legal entity will take responsibility for monitoring security. Employees of this legal entity will be held by the Federal air transport Agency. This legal entity will be able to monitor procedures for ensuring aviation security in respect of aircraft, passengers, cargo, baggage, mail, catering and on-Board reserves, next to Russia.

Specific dates for the resumption of air links with Egypt at the moment.

The decision to resume flights between the two countries will be adopted by the government, according to the website of the Ministry of transport.

Negotiations on the resumption of air links with Egypt lasts from the end of 2015. The air service was discontinued in November 2015 after the terrorist attack on the plane “Kogalymavia”, which was flying from Sharm El Sheikh to Saint Petersburg.
