A resident of New Zealand ran across the country in 21 days

A British woman living in New Zealand has broken a world record by running across the country in less than 21 days.

37-year-old Emma Timmis, who lives in Kayapoi, started the race on December 18 at Cape Reinga and completed it on January 7, running 2,092 kilometers, reports UPI. A woman crossed the finish line in Bluffs.

The exact time of the race in hours and minutes is not specified, but after coping in less than 21 days, Timmis broke the world record of Welsh runner Menna Evans (35 days and 27 minutes), improving her result by more than two weeks.

Timmis started planning her race four years ago, but had to postpone it due to a shin injury. Her campaign helped raise funds for mental illness charities in New Zealand and the UK.
