The mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin in an interview kp.ru said that in new houses that will be built instead of the demolished obsolete buildings will be larger apartment.
The number of rooms, he said, will remain the same, however, will significantly increase the area of kitchens — from six to eight or more square meters. “It also increases the toilets. The larger corridors and hallways will have enough room to mount built-in wardrobes”, — said Sobyanin. As a result, according to him, the total area of new apartments will increase by 20 percent.
The mayor noted that the new apartment residents will receive free of charge and bypassing the process of privatization, if it was not done by the owner with the old housing. “We will build a solid, modern, panel or monolithic house, which will serve as new more than 100 years”, — said Sobyanin.
Order on demolition of dilapidated housing the mayor received from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin at a meeting on 21 February. The mayor stated that this will be completed in 2017-2018.
February 22, the mayor personally led the staff to implement the program of renovation of old buildings. The mayor noted that it was demolished about 1.7 thousand houses, and to have been included in a list of about eight thousand buildings.
