The Central Bank has banned transfers through the WebMoney system and replenishment of ruble wallets for six months transfers within six months. During this period, users of the system only have access to the functions of payment for goods and services in trade and service enterprises, payment of fines and taxes, as well as withdrawal of rubles to their bank accounts, according to the service website.
The corresponding order of the regulator was received by the settlement bank WebMoney – Conservative Commercial Bank (KKB). The press service of the service emphasized that they did not expect claims and consider the reasons for restrictions to be a formality.
In the comments to RBC, a representative of the system noted that violations related to the withdrawal of capital, payments on illegal sites and the lack of fight against unfair use , could not be found. He did not specify what the essence of the claims is.
In the past, the Central Bank has already introduced similar restrictions for the Qiwi service and YuMoney. In the first case, it was about transfers to foreign online stores, and in the second, a ban on making payments in favor of foreigners.
Since August 2020, Russia has a ban on anonymous replenishment of electronic wallets, including in the WebMoney system. The transaction can only be carried out with personal identification or using a bank account.
