PlayStation will launch a free games subscription in 2022 
Sony is going to launch a new free games subscription on its consoles. It is reported by Bloomberg.
The company's plans were announced by sources at Sony, who wished to remain anonymous. The subscription, codenamed Spartacus, will bring together a library of new and classic PlayStation games. Users will get access to it through a regular payment, the amount of which is not specified. Spartacus is expected to launch in the spring of 2022.
The new offer is linked to Sony's phasing out of the PlayStation Now subscription. Spartacus is expected to have three tiers. At the first and most accessible, gamers will have access to the benefits of PlayStation Plus – they will be able to launch certain games of the month, use the online mode. The second level will open access to the library of free games for PlayStation 4 and 5. The third level includes the benefits of the first and second levels, and users who subscribe will be able to broadcast their gameplay to the network and launch retro games from PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP .
It is also reported that Sony intends to launch its subscription to compete with Xbox Game Pass. With over 18 million gamers on offer from its competitors, Game Pass includes dozens of classic and new games, as well as Microsoft exclusives.
In October, reporters saw PlayStation CEO Jim Rayan as a hint of a planned launch in October new subscription with games. He noted that he would like PS to become a console for consuming a variety of content.
