Kommersant: Bastrykin appointed Colonel Korpusov, the Acting Chief of the Main Military Directorate of the Main Military Directorate of the Northern Fleet became Colonel Konstantin Korpusov, who headed the Northern Fleet Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR). Kommersant learned about the candidate for the post.

According to the newspaper, the decision on this appointment was made personally by the chairman of the TFR, Alexander Bastrykin. It is Korpusov who may soon be approved in the new post by presidential decree. He is known for the fact that his unit was investigating the emergency with the nuclear submarine manned vehicle AS-31 “Losharik”. It burned down in July 2019 during underwater work in the Barents Sea, killing 14 sailors. Prior to his appointment as head of the ICR Northern Fleet Directorate, Korpusov was deputy head of the ICR Investigation Directorate for the Western Military District, which is located in St. Petersburg. Bastrykin is from there, and it is likely that they met there.

The former chief military investigator of Russia, Colonel-General Alexander Sorochkin, resigned in the spring of 2020 after a corruption scandal. The head of CSKA, Mikhail Baryshev, who is under investigation, wrote a confession, in which he informed Sorochkin of giving a bribe. An official check was carried out against the general, during which the fact of corruption was not confirmed and the investigators refused to initiate a criminal case against Sorochkin.
