The Military Watch: the deployment of the S-500 in Belarus will help counter US missiles
On Wednesday, December 1, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the country needs anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) S-500. The United States appreciated the benefits of such a step for Russia. Air defense systems in Belarus will allow to counter American missiles in Europe, writes The Military Watch.
Lukashenko said that the Belarusian air defense systems (air defense) provide protection for the country, but for effective protection against missile attacks Belarus needs S-400 complexes Triumph and S-500 Prometheus. The publication noted that the new air defense systems could be a response to the deployment of American medium-range missiles in Europe. Also, the S-500 Prometheus complexes will allow Belarus to hit targets deep in European territory.
Earlier, Alexander Lukashenko announced the possibility of returning nuclear weapons to the republic. The author of The Military Watch suggested that the new air defense systems will be able to protect the launchers.
The publication also notes that the deployment of the S-500 in Belarus could increase the defense capability of Russia. The promising complex will allow to hit stealthy aircraft and hypersonic targets at long distances.
In October, the Izvestia newspaper announced the creation of a single circuit that would include the S-500 air defense system and the Pantsir- CM”. ZRPK will provide protection of the S-500 from drones and cruise missiles of the enemy.
In September, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that the first samples of the S-500 began to enter the troops. He noted that India may become the first foreign buyer of the S-500.
