According to the material, six large colored containers were installed in one of the most popular places for recreation on Lake Baikal. plastic, glass, metal and other waste. Recyclable materials from tourists and local residents will begin to be accepted in the spring of 2022. Garbage will be regularly transported to a sorting station in the Imel-Kutul area, and then for recycling.
It is noted that in addition to the installation of a garbage collection point in the village of Khuzhir on Olkhon, the Irkutsk “Give the Planet Life” foundation held environmental lessons for more than 200 students of the school. During the classes, children learned to make sustainable packaging choices, for example, distinguish plastic markings, and use resources rationally.
In August it became known that the first garbage collection championship on Lake Baikal was held in Buryatia. 105 people took part in it, 55 of them were children. The employees of the Ulan-Ude aircraft plant and volunteers of the Novaya Energia NGO with their families took up garbage collection. Participants managed to collect 100 bags of garbage in just two hours.
