VORONEZH, July 10./ITAR- Ukrainian citizen Nadezhda Savchenko, who is in a Voronezh jail on charges of complicity in the murder of VGTRK journalists near Luhansk, feels good and does not complain about anything, Voronezh human rights activist Anatoly Malakhov told ITAR-TASS.
Malakhov heads the regional public observation commission of the human rights organization Russia Without Torture. On Wednesday, he visited Savchenko in a pre-trial detention center. “She is in good physical shape, she has no complaints about the content and attitude of the employees,” he said.
The Voronezh Regional Court upheld the decision to arrest
The Voronezh Regional Court upheld the order to arrest Savchenko. At the request of the defense, the criminal case was returned to the Novousmanskiy District Court to eliminate violations: the defendant was not given a copy of the protocol and procedural documents in Ukrainian.
The court session was held behind closed doors, without the press. Savchenko was at that moment in a pre-trial detention center, from where a video link was established with the courtroom.
According to the investigation, during the hostilities in the Luhansk region in June of this year, Savchenko, being the operator-gunner of the Mi-24 helicopter, joined the Aydar battalion. Having learned the coordinates of the location of a group of Russian journalists from VGTRK and other civilians near Luhansk, she handed them over to the militants, after which a mortar attack was carried out exactly at these coordinates, as a result of which VGTRK employees Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin were killed.
Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation charged Savchenko with complicity in the murder of journalists.
